Prime minister: "Salary hike means suicide!"

The PM stressed that the government will not agree to use funds for education investments to increase teachers salaries by 50 percent. "It does not seem fair to me that now, before elections, unions put pressures on the Government," Tariceanu said. He added the wages hike must be decided by the next Government and the Parliament, if economic performances allow it. "Such a measure to increase salaries is suicide, we would lead Romania to bankruptcy," Tariceanu added. 

General elections are scheduled for November 30.
