Print media earned €2.5 mln from election campaign
The first round of elections took place on 1 June, while runoffs for mayors and County Council heads will be held this Sunday.

Jurnalul National, published by one of Romania’s main media groups, Intact, earned €721.428, double that of the newspaper ranked second, Curentul (€349.400). The free Compact newspaper, published by Ringier group, sold advertising space worth €198,000 to parties and candidates. Libertatea tabloid, also published by Ringier, ranks fourth, with €131,000 in earnings from election ads.

The figures were for rate-card budgets. During the election campaign, the average discount in the print media was 25-30 percent, lower than for other advertising clients, according to specialists in the field.
