Discount retailer Profi Rom Food, owned by French-Belgian group Louis Delhaize, paid RON 25.5 million (some €8 mln) for the Albinuta supermarket chain, which it purchased last year from Lithuanian company Maxima LT.
Following the takeover, Profi Rom Food’s General Manager, Caius Crisan, was appointed single Administrator of the Albinuta stores.
Profi Rom Food operates 35 Profi stores, mostly in northern and eastern Romania, and nine Albinuta supermarkets in Bucharest. The company plans to open at least 10 new stores this year.
Profi estimates it will make some €143-148 mln in turnover by the end of 2008, 30-35 percent higher year-on-year.
