Public acquisitions to become less bureaucratic and more transparent

At the end of last week, the Boc cabinet determined that the maximum deadline for the awarding of a public contract will be 30 days, and companies and individuals who submit contestations will be obliged to pay a stamp duty worth 2 percent of the value of the contested contract. “The change in the law regarding public acquisitions was absolutely necessary. The excessive duration of these auctions should have been modified long ago. It is not possible to wait six months or a year for something like this. However, the problem remains regarding the trust we have, or better said, do not have in connection with the organization of these public auctions,” said Dragos Anastasiu, owner of the Touring Europabus travel agency and President of the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania (ANAT). “This change is good, but they cannot do anything with it, because there is no investment mass with which to work. The investment budget will be very limited,” added Marian Ghinescu, Manager of the Medical Equipment Division of Siemens Romania.
