Raiffeisen Bank Romania, with 360 branches and agencies, is also a treasury bank for AIG’s mandatory private pensions fund (the so-called second pillar of the Romanian pensions system), also managed by AIG Fond de Pensii. The two companies will start the collaboration in the field on September 17, when the race for attracting clients on the mandatory private pensions market begins, added the companies’ officials.
“We wish to provide our clients an additional service in our locations, as well as the possibility to choose a pension fund managed by a strong company with broad experience in the field,” said the President of Raiffeisen Bank Romania, Steven van Groningen. AIG’s second pillar fund has a moderate degree of risk, with investments in bonds, treasury certificates, and municipal bonds issued in the EU.
“This partnership is placing us in the best position on the market regarding private pensions’ distribution through lenders,” said the General Manager of AIG Fond de Pensii, Mihai Coca-Cozma.
AIG Fond de Pensii’s main shareholder is AIG Life Asigurari Romania, owned by American Life Insurance Company (ALICO), member of American International Group (AIG).
