Real estate and industry were 2008’s investment stars

Between January 2008 and January 2009, the top 40 investing companies brought €636 million in capital into the real estate sector, almost 15 percent of the total €4.3 billion. April and June were the best months for this sector, with capital entries in excess of €80 mln, while the weakest month was March, with €10 mln.

The energy and auto and car part industries each had a 10 percent slice of total investments. In energy, E.ON’s investments in gas and electricity had the largest share in terms of total. In industry, the €50 mln investment by the Austrian Egger wood processing company in Suceava, boosted the total registered in July 2008 to €80 mln.

In 2008, the IT&C sector was marked by investments made by Cosmote and Telemobil in network expansion. The two companies brought in more than half of total investments worth €375 mln.
