Record levels of foreign capital due to Rasdaq

Capital inflow since the beginning of the year reached a total of €818.68 million on BVB and Rasdaq, almost the same level for the entire year 2006, at €853.56 million.

Foreign investors became more interested in Rasdaq due to the appreciation of company shares listed on this market. Foreigners mostly traded Asirom, Imotrust Arad and Dafora shares. The record May transaction was the sale by Broadhurst Investment Fund of 14.23 percent of Asirom's capital, for €17.9 million, to off-shore funds Tarkul Estates LTD and Waterwe Ventures LTD.

Also in May, investment and brokerage bank Morgan Stanley purchased six percent of Imotrust Arad for some €3 million, later selling more than one percent of the company.

Foreign investors bought shares totaling €237.35 million in the first five months of 2007 on the Rasdaq market, compared to €278.21 million in 2006, according to data from the National Securities Commission (CNVM).

The most active buyers were British investors in May, of shares worth €48.34 million, making up 21.17 percent of total acquisitions. Cyprus-based investors, who dominated the market in March and April, ranked second in May as far as purchases were concerned, but remained among top sellers, with a total of €50.29 million.

Capital

According to CNVM, capital outflows on the BVB and Rasdaq reached €95 million this May, adding to the €433 million since the beginning of 2007. Capital outflows amounted to some €795 million in 2006.
