As of June or July, Banca Transilvania, one of the top 10 local lenders in terms of assets, will benefit from the money from the sale of its stake in BT Aegon to Aegon, with the value of the transaction at €11 million.
The banker said that a normal level of interest is approximately 11-12 percent annually on lei deposits, and forecasts a drop to this level by year-end. Banca Transilvania was one of the first banks to cut interest rates on deposits.
The lender, which has 60 percent exposure on the corporate segment, resumed lending in March, introducing promotional offers onto the market in an attempt to attract clients. “We have attractive products, but loan demand is still low at this time. The entire banking system was more selective in terms of lending, but we really want to continue to grow on loans and all business lines,” Rekkers, BT’s General Manager, told Business Standard.
