Remedia’s boss moves to Abbott Laboratories

Banica headed Remedia’s business since mid-2007, after working for eight years for local pharmaceutical market leader, GlaxoSmithKline. “This is a natural career evolution step. I arrived at Remedia at a difficult period for the market and when the company was subjected to major changes. It is time for me to return to what I do best, namely the pharmaceutical business, where I feel more comfortable. Remedia gave me an opportunity to gain experience in the distribution and retail business, which I was lacking,” said Banica for Business Standard.

The General Manager further indicated that main accomplishments during his time with Remedia were the closing of the year 2007 with profit, in spite of a difficult market, in which major distributors registered losses worth millions of euro, a 32 percent rise in sales, and a lessening of the business’ instability, by increasing its share of sales to third parties.

Banica will head a team of 40 people at Abbott Laboratories, 22nd or 23rd among top producers, according to the Cegedim market research company.
