“Romania has the potential to reach annual long-term sales worth €134 bln,” said Thys. According to data from Polish PMR Publications market research company, Romanian retail sales, including traditional stores, markets, supermarkets and hypermarkets, could increase this year 16.5 percent, to RON 121.7 bln (€38 bln), more than half of this amount being generated by food products.
Future Lab will open an office in Romania in a few months, offering advisory and merchandising services for retailers, as well as marketing and real estate advisory services. Thys added that important retailers like Lidl, Obi or Aldi will enter the Romanian market.
