Richest businessmen on the stock exchange lost €650 mln in 2007

The top nine businesspeople in terms of assets listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) lost some €650 mln in the first nine months of 2007. Their stock currently total €450.67 mln. 

Capital markets registered severe losses due to the financial turmoil on the global markets.
BVB's main index, BET, monitoring the top 10 listed companies, lost 45 percent in the first nine months of 2007, while Rasdaq-C, index monitoring companies listed on BVB's electronic Rasdaq, lost 40 percent. The president of brokerage company KTD Invest, Iulian Panait, said dew investors are active on BVB, as the market was significantly impacted by corrections. 

The top three owners of listed companies, businessmen Ovidiu Tender, Sorin Creteanu and Gheorghe Calburean, control shares worth €258.37 million. 

The fortune of developer Impact Contractor&Developer's President and major shareholder Dan Ioan Popp on BVB declined by 70.45 percent, to €35.16 mln. "I expect a market re-launch and I expect the real estate segment will attract investors again," Popp said. Tender, major shareholder of comoanies Prospecţiuni Bucureşti (PRSN), Atlas Gip and Vulcan, remains the richest man on BVB. He controls shares worth €130 million. Creteanu, owner of construction company Comnord, ranks second, with €72,85 mln. 

Gheorghe Calburean, who controls listed comoanies Condmag Brasov and Dafora Medias, ranks third, with €55.52 mln.
Tender lost some €130 mln, while Popp lost €203 mln.
