“At this moment, there is coherent and solid information announcing the danger that after EC’s report in July, European funds for Romania could be cut. This is an element with multiple causes, but the main pretext is the lack of reform in the field of justice in Romania,” Geoana said yesterday, quoted by the NewsIn agency.
Minister of Justice Catalin Predoiu said that the only “formally stipulated” sanction in the event of a negative report on justice is not recognizing the verdicts by the Romanian courts of law in the other states of the European Union.
Bundestag, the lower chamber of the German Parliament, voted on May7 a report regarding the situation of human rights worldwide, to which the Commission for development and humanitarian aid added an amendment requesting the freeze of EU funds for Romania.
