"People do not need to worry, because Romania still has natural gas for the following 100 days, and after that the winter is practically over. Of the 60 million cubic meters per day consumed in Romania, household consumption amounts to 34 million cubic meters," Toth said.
Due to a Moscow-Kiev feud over gas prices, Rusia cut off exports through Ukraine, gradually ceasing gas deliveries to Romania. Toth said Romania must act according to "plan B", meaning limiting supplies to large consumers and electricity and thermal energy production with alternative fuels, such as heating oils and coal.
Gas deliveries from Russia to Romania through Isaccea 2 (southeastern Tulcea County) amount to 4.7 million cubic meters per day, and make up two thirds of the total imports. The remainder 2.5 million cubic meters are delivered through the Mediesul Aurit station.
