Romania has over 12 million internet users

The number of internet users in Romania surpassed 12 million at the end of March. Its 53.9 percent penetration rate ranks Romania eighth in the European Union, ahead of Portugal and Sweden, according to a study by InternetWorldStats website. This penetration rate is below the 59.9 percent EU average.

Compared to November 2007, the number of internet users has risen by some five million. Worldwide, some 21.9 percent of the population uses the internet.
