The demand for commercial vehicles in Romania registered the highest increase of all European states in the first eight months of 2008, up to 23,669 units, 63.2 percent higher year-on-year, according to data from European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
On the trucks segment, the demand declined by 53.2 percent, to 13,379 units, while the European market advanced by 2.4 percent, to 302,207 units.
On the heavy trucks segment, the demand on the Romanian market dropped by 31.5 percent, to 4,208 units, second largest decline after Latvia. Total demand on this segment reached 221,822 units, a 4.7 percent increase.
Bus sales increased by 68.7 percent, to 2,882 units, while car sales increased by 1 percent, to 239,084 units. New cars sales decreased by 2.9 percent, to 198,934 units.
