Alternatives for the auto maker’s new factory, to benefit from reduced Eastern European labor force costs, will be presented today to the Mercedes Board of Directors.
Daimler representatives refused to comment on the information published in the two German magazines.
Daimler announced its intention to build a factory in Eastern Europe six months ago, and the investment is estimated to be worth €800 million. The German company’s final decision will be announced in June. Information appeared in May saying that Daimler had narrowed its search area to Poland (Ujazd) and Romania (Cluj). Negotiations on this subject are confidential, and Polish and Romanian authorities refuse to comment.
