Romania makes highest sales for AMD in Eastern Europe

“Since we officially entered the Romanian market, at the end of 2006, we have had results exceeding expectations. There was a boom on the retail segment in , which led to a significant increase in sales,” according to AMD’s Vice President for Sales and Marketing in Eastern Europe, Pierre Brunswick, for Business Standard.

He added that, since 2006, the company registered growth above that of ’s market level, which led to a significant market share for both desktop computers and notebooks.

Of the total 228,800 PCs sold in in the first quarter of 2008, 84,800 had AMD microprocessors, according to data provided by International Data Corporation (IDC) EMEA market research company.

The company currently has a 29.44 percent market share in , compared to its 20.9 percent share of the global market in the first quarter of 2008. AMD’s main competitor worldwide is Intel, with a 78.9 percent share of the global market and a 70 percent share on ’s market.

“ is the most important market in Eastern Europe in terms of sales. The office here is managing all the other markets, such as former , and ,” Brunswick said.
