According to the company official, MyAir has not yet been affected by the crisis involving Italian authorities and Romanian immigrants, even if effects of this crisis could become visible in a few weeks.
“We continue to apply the strategy we developed last year for Romania, thus we will introduce a new direct flight to Rimini as of May. Moreover, for the summer schedule, we are negotiating the launch of a flight to Ibiza, with a stopover in Milan or Venice,” Rus added. The company’s Sales Manager for Romania said that local sales could rise by up to 10 percent this summer as a direct result of introducing the two destinations.
Other low-cost companies present on the local market include Blue Air (Romania), Wizz Air (Hungary), Germanwings (Germany), easyJet (United Kingdom), and Ryanair (Ireland).
Players on this market said that low-cost airlines will no longer post revenues as high as in past years, when traffic increased by an annual 30-40 percent. According to these players, revenues to be registered by local air transporters in 2009 will drop 15 percent, to some €160 mln.
