The Romanian stand in Berlin comes two years after the country had its first stand at Cannes. APFR is to provide information on the cinematographic activities in Romania included in two catalogs: Romanian Films – a collection of Romanian films from the past three years and Shooting Romania – a brochure with useful information for those who want to film in Romania.
Romania will display two short movies at the festival in Berlin. “Tarziu” (Late) by Paul Negoescu and “O zi buna de plaja” (A good day for sunbathing) by Bogdan Mustata were selected for the official competition.
Another two Romanian projects, “Periferic” by Anatol Regintovschi and “Aurora” will take part in the co-production market in Berlin, one of the most important worldwide.
Romania stepped into the spotlight this year when director Cristian Mungiu won the big prize in Cannes for its film "4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days" which tells the story of a student trying to help a friend have an abortion in communist Romania, when women were banned to have abortions.
