Romania’s BitDefender attracts investments, prepares for listing in the next two years

The value of the Romanian-based antivirus provider was estimated at 100 million U.S. dollars by a representative of the investors. The spokesperson noted the value of the company should exceed several hundred million U.S. dollars in a few years.

Florin Talpes, the head of BitDefender, said it is very likely for the company to be listed on a Romanian, European or U.S. stock exchange, by the end of 2008 or the first half of 2009. The head of BitDefender said the company is at the start of attracting new investments. BitDefender broke from mother company Softwin in the second half of the year.

BitDefender is present in some 6,000 stores in five continents, being one of the widest spread Romanian IT products worldwide. BitDefender runs units in America, UK, Germany, Spain and Romania.
