Romania’s Bucharest Stock Exchange prolongs program with 2 hrs starting June 9 to draw new investors

The stock exchange market will close at 16:30 instead of 14:30. The decision applies to spot and derivatives market and to the Rasdaq over-the-counter market too.

Prolonging the trading program on BSE will allow investors to react to the important global financial news which happens before 4 p.m. Romania’s hour, and is also an alignment to the program of the main international bourses, BSE head Stere Farmache said.

The longer program will pave the way to an increase in competitiveness and accessibility to the stock market and also bolster the general liquidity and draw new investors, he added.

The BSE board which met on April 22 also approved changing conditions to enter the bourse’s tiers. The new criteria require that companies which list on the first tier of BSE have an average number of 25 daily transactions at an average value of 40,000. Companies which eye the second tier should see five daily transactions at 5,000 lei average liquidity.

BSE shareholders said at the recent meeting with brokers when conditions were hashed over the new changes aim to increase transparency on the market and encourage more investors.
