Romania’s Dacia sales worldwide increase 14% in the first eight months
Dacia sold some 151,141 cars worldwide in the first eight months of the year, up against the 133,000 units sold in the same period last year. The carmaker sold 68,676 cars in the mentioned period.

The Romanian carmaker sold some 20,000 cars in France, in the first eight months of the year, up against the 14,023 units sold between January and August 2006. 2,407 cars were sold in France during August this year, against 1,031 units sold in the same month in 2006.

The company's market share stood at 1.5 percent in the first eight months of the year, from 1 percent in 2006. Exports of Automobile Dacia, the Romanian unit of Renault, France's second-biggest carmaker, rose 50.6 percent in the first half of the year against the same period last year.

Western Europe remains Dacia's main export destination for the Logan model accounting for more than 50 percent. France leads in terms of sales with 14,915 Logan cars sold from the beginning of the year, followed by Germany, where Dacia sales boomed almost by 200 percent from the first half of 2006, up to 8,357 units. Next was Algeria with 5,563 units, Spain with 4,148 units and Ukraine with 3,391 units.
