ANRE, the market regulator in the power sector, is currently analyzing the effects of the hot temperatures over production costs and the prices in the energy system. Even though the scorching heat had some effects on the energy system, the supplementary costs can be absorbed by the power system, ANRE’s general manager for Prices and Tariffs, Viorel Alicus said.
The official noted ANRE will know for sure in November if prices for energy delivered to population will increase starting January 1, and by how much. Weather forecasts show scarce trace of hot temperatures in August, yet drought will maintain in September.
Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian said on August 16 prices for natural gas and electricity will not change in the third quarter of the year. The minister noted electricity prices could go up 2 percent starting January 1, depending on the effects of the drought and the energy producer’s demand for higher prices.
