Romania’s GDP should rise by 6.1% this year, sustained by constructions, agriculture, BCR says
Agriculture should have positive impact over the country’s economy unlike 2007 when the severe drought caused huge losses in the field. Romania’s 2008 GDP should see a 0.3 percentage points advance coming from agriculture.

Net taxes levied per product will have their say within this year’s GDP, as these were affected in 2007 by the strong cut of the custom taxes. This happened immediately after Romania’s EU accession, in January 1, 2008.

BCR believes the construction industry's growth will temper this year against the last to 20-25 percent against the 34 percent hike seen in the first eleven months of 2007. Yet, this part of the industry will continue to contribute significantly to the overall growth of the Romanian economy, the lender said.

Industrial production lowered its growth rhythm to 5.6 percent in the first 11 months of 2007 and this year BCR believes this indicator should rise to 6 percent.
