Romania’s IT market is double that of Bulgaria

The company estimates an average 13.4 percent annual increase for all areas of the IT market - computers, peripherals, servers, storage systems, networking, software and IT services - by 2012. This year’s market is expected to amount to €626.6 million.

According to IDC’s Manager for Bulgaria, Nelly Vacheva, “the future development of the IT market will be significantly impacted by government programs.”

In spite of this growth rate, Bulgaria’s IT market is only half as large as Romania’s, estimated to be worth some €1.37 billion in 2008, 11 percent higher year-on-year, according to IDC.

In both countries, the growth engine is the hardware segment, with both desktop and notebook sales increasing in Romania and Bulgaria.
