The new store will stretch over 8,000 square meters. The retailer will also open its fifth hypermarket in downtown Bucharest, unfolding over 3,600 square meters, following a 5 million euros investment.
The retailer, part of French group Hyparlo, plans to open next year its sixth store in Bucharest and four other in the cities of Oradea, Arad, Pitesti and Suceava. The Carrefour network currently consists of seven hypermarkets, total investments in Romania amounting to around 220 million euros.
Carrefour Romania sales increased 5 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period last year on expansion of its network of hypermarkets in the country.
