Romania's leu climbed to 3.66 versus the euro yesterday, on high demand for the national currency

The leu started to rise this morning and stood at 3.66 against the euro at 4 p.m. Banks bought the euro with 3.6645 lei and sold it for 3.6725 at 5:15 p.m.

The U.S. dollar increased to 1.57 against the euro on international markets; at 5:15 p.m. Romania's hour, the euro stood at 1.5703 U.S. dollars.

Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood close to the monetary policy rate of 9.5 percent per year.
