Romania's leu sinks to 3.7635 lei against euro, reaches the lowest level in three years

Banks sold the euro for 3.74 lei in the morning. Leu decreased to 3.76 per euro and then recovered to 3.74 per euro. The national currency continued to fall and stood at 3.7740-3.7780 at 1:50 p.m.

The U.S. dollar was traded for 1.4542-1.4684 U.S. dollars per euro on the international markets, while at 1:50 p.m Romania's hour, the euro was sold for 1.4573 U.S. dollars.

The interbank interest rates for overnight deposits climbed close to the monetary policy interest of 8 percent per year, after BNR balanced the high liquidity on the market.
