Romania's leu ups to 3.6854 lei per euro, on central bank's efforts to balance the market
Banks sold 1 euro for 3.6925 lei in today's opening session. Leu climbed to 3.6570 lei per euro and fell to 3.6860 lei per euro after 1 p.m.

BNR collected one-week deposits of 2.14 billion lei from banks today, with an interest of 8 percent per year. The central bank collected deposits every day this week to balance the liquidity on the market.

The U.S. dollar was traded from 1.4588 to 1.4688 U.S. dollars per euro on the international markets, while at 1:40 p.m Romania's hour, the euro was sold for 1.4644 U.S. dollars.

The interbank interest rates for overnight deposits stood around 7.2-7.7 percent per year, below the monetary policy interest of 8 percent per year.
