Romania’s rich €10 bln poorer

In only a few months, the crisis fundamentally changed the coordinates of Romania’s hierarchy of wealthy. According to the list editors, more than a quarter of the top 500 wealthiest Romanians suffered losses at the end of 2008. For some, the crisis has meant not only that they are out from among the top richest Romanians, but even bankruptcy, such as in the case of the founders of the Cosmo brand or of the Pan-Euro auto parts distributor. For others, the crisis represents an opportunity, with almost one quarter of the new Romanian millionaires newcomers to the list.
