The highest jobless rate of 9.6 percent was registered in Vaslui County, eastern Romania, while the lowest of 1.5 percent was seen in Ilfov County, southern Romania.

ANOFM said the unemployment rate was 1.1 percentage points lower, year-on-year in December 2007. The total number of unemployed fell by 4,000 persons, to a total of 367,838 individuals.

The jobless rate amongst men stood at 4.3 percent in December 2007. The unemployment rate concerning women went down 0.1 percentage points, to 4 percent.
