As many as 2.66 million tourists visited Bulgaria in the first half of the year, 98.45 percent more than the same period last year, statistics showed.
Romania was the favorite tourist destination for more than 3 million people in the first half of the year, an 18.2 percent increase compared to the first half of 2006.
Bulgarians traveling abroad preferred destinations like Turkey (560,000 people), Greece (390,000), Serbia (233,000) and Former Republic of Macedonia (155,000).
