Romania should see a 5.8% annual inflation in 2008, overshooting the central bank’s target, UN says
Romania saw a yearly inflation of 6.57 percent last year. This exceeded the 5.7 percent target aimed by the Central Bank of Romania (BNR).

The central bank set a yearly inflation target for this year of 3.8 percent, with a fluctuation of plus/minus one percent. UN believes economic growth in Romania will stay at 5.5 percent this year.

Romania’s National Prognosis Commission (CNP) believes the country should see a 6.1 percent GDP for 2007 and 6.5 percent for this year. The UN estimates the unemployment rate should stay at 7 percent this year.

Romania saw a 4.2 percent unemployment rate after the first nine months of 2007. CNP forecasted a 4.4 percent jobless rate for 2007.
