The local subsidiary is concentrating on consolidating string publications and developing the online business, opting for a smaller but strong and focused portfolio.
Unger said that 2009 is a challenging year for the entire media industry, due to the crisis, and Romania is one of the markets most affected by the decline in advertising budgets. As the manager said that the market will not bounce back sooner than one-one and a half years, Ringier Romania will be much more careful about costs and efficiency.
“We have to be very careful to costs, adjust them, because the profit is dropping due to the decline of the market,” Unger added. The company official also said that Romania has grwth potential and the enterprise could become online market leader in the coming years.
