Romanian construction sector, 20 times faster than EU average
The Eurostat study goes on to say that the output on the construction market rose 2 percent in September 2007, compared to August. The year-on-year increase amounts to some 37.5 percent.

As such, Romania ranks first in the EU in this field. However, data for several countries was not made available by Eurostat.

The data is confirmed by a recent poll carried out by the National Statistics Institute (INS), according to which Romanian managers have indicated that operations in the construction field will continue growing until the end of the year.

In spite of the positive forecast and the top position in the Eurostat ranking based on September results, Romania has seen its construction output dropping in recent months. The April, output was 10.7 percent higher than March, while the year-on-year increase was 41.7 percent.

The average growth of construction output in the EU was 0.1 percent this September, compared to August. In the euro-zone, the output remained steady month-on-month. The year-on-year increase amounts to 2.5 percent for the entire EU and 1.5 percent for the Eurozone.
