Three Romanian movies were displayed at the 51 edition of the festival which took place from October 17 to November 1 - Cristian Mungiu's Palme d'Or awarded movie “4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days”, Nemescu's “California dreamin' and Paul Negoescu's short film “Acasa”.
Mungiu along with Andrei Boncea, the producer of “California dreamin'”, Ada Solomon, the executive manager of the cultural society NexT and several Romanian and British journalists and film critics were invited to debate on “Romanian cinematography: the next wave?”
The movie “Persepolis” directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud received the festival's Sutherland trophy in the ending gala which took place at the Odeon Cinema in London on November 1.
