Romania's current-account deficit widened to 13.3 billion euros in October, a record, a fact which underpinned views the leu is being hurt by weak macroeconomic data.

“The market is still dominated by foreign currency heavy buying especially that investors started to look more carefully at Romania's economy,” chief dealer with Banca Transilvania, Ioan Birle said.
The exchange rate posted today by the central bank shows a 1.32 percent decrease of the leu against euro, reaching 3.7106, a level last seen on February 5, 2007.
