“I have not lately noticed a change in demand from abroad for Romanian managers, although the number of applications from Romanians who want to leave has risen,” the General Manager of the Pluri Consultants Romania human resource consultancy and recruitment company, Madalina Popescu, said.

At present, on the TJobs.ro Web site, that centralizes offers of several companies in Romania specializing in recruiting personnel for the foreign market, there are 256 management level vacancies in fields such as financial, legal, software, hotels, and business analysis. According to data provided by TJobs.ro, the best paid managers operate in the IT field, with monthly salaries of up to €4,000-5,000, while a manager in the field of construction has a monthly salary of €2,500-3,000.

“Romanians are interested in such jobs, but, unfortunately, most of the time, their level of education and experience is below that expected by foreign employers. Another important issue is the resume, which often lacks information or exceedingly and unjustifiably detailed,” said Calin Stefanescu, Managing Director for TJobs. Countries for which managers are sought include Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Finland, France, and the United States.

On the other hand, some Romanian managers want to return due to the economic crisis, and also for personal reasons. “The difference in salary compared to what they received abroad is rather high, and depends on the country in which they worked. If they worked in Germany, the difference can be of up to 40 percent, if we are talking about the Czech Republic, the difference is 30 percent,” said Isabella Beghoffer, Managing Director of the Royalty Jobs International recruitment and HR consultancy company.
