Romanian operations make €500 million of BASF’s income

BASF last year launched a factory in the city of Ploiesti, near Bucharest, producing construction adhesives, following a €2 mln investment. The main subsidiary of BASF on the local market is Wintershall, which posted €497 mln in turnover in 2006. Other subsidiaries of BASF in Romania are WIEE, Wirom Gas, BASF Construction Chemicals Romania and BASF Coating Services.

Globally, the German giant posted €4.06 billion in net profits, 26.4 percent higher year-on-year, and a 10.2 percent increase in income, up to €57.9 bln.
