The decision to expand abroad was made due to the significant number of Romanians working in Spain and the high potential for packages delivery and money transfer. “The offices will operate as of October 1, with two to three employees and a service unit that will answer requests directly,” said company officials.
The first stage will include offices in the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Castellon and Malaga. The Romanian Postal Company will also open offices in Italy, another destination country for Romanian workers. The company posted turnover worth €192 million in H1 2008, 44.7 percent higher year-on-year.
