The highest net salaries were paid in February in the air transport sector, at RON 3,313 (€773), while the lowest were in hotels and restaurants, of RON 728 (€170). The sharpest drops, of over 10 percent, were registered for insurance and reinsurance activities and pension funds. However, the annual growth pace rose to 19.8 percent in February from 12.9 percent in January 2009.
Romanians managed to save 10.2 percent of total revenues in the last quarter of 2008, spending the remaining 89.8 percent. Consumption expenses made up the largest portion in total household expenses (71.5 percent), followed by taxes, contributions, and fees (15.6 percent), and production expenses (6.8 percent), while expenses for investments made up only 1.8 percent of total expenses
