Romanian stocks dip at closing on decreasing market on the Bucharest Stock Exchange

Trading rose 12 percent to 34.36 million lei (9.5 million euros).

Stocks in Europe also fell at closing owing to slump of banks and auto shares. The FTSE index in London was the only one on the rise, advancing 0.03 percent to 6,193 while the DAX index in Frankfurt and the CAC 40 index in Paris dropped 0.55 percent to 7,079 and 0.57 percent to 5,026.

The BET index for trading blue chips on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) fell 0.91 percent to 7,484.01 and the BET-C composite index tracking all listed shares minus investment funds slipped 0.45 percent to 5,268.22.

The BET-FI index of the five financial companies known as SIFs dropped 0.62 percent to 53,222.71 and the ROTX index tracking blue chips in Vienna declined 1.49 percent to 17,267.32.

SIF Moldova (SIF2) was the most liquid stock today generating deals of 4.24 million lei after a 1.34 percent fall to 2.21 lei, followed by SIF Oltenia (SIF5) which traded for 4.09 million lei and lost 2.05 percent to 2.87 lei.

SIF Muntenia (SIF4) was the only financial company to rise, gaining 1.20 percent to 1.69 lei, on deals of 3.24 million lei.

Fifth lender by assets Banca Transilvania (TLV) dipped 0.89 percent to 0.4460 lei. Second lender by assets BRD-SocGen (BRD) slipped 1.77 percent to 22.20 lei.

Erste Bank (EBS), the majority owner of Romania’s largest bank by assets Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) and lender listed at the bourse’s international tier plunged 3.24 percent to 170.30 lei on deals of 1.03 million lei.

Oil shares of the largest company in Romania, Petrom (SNP) dropped 0.93 percent to 0.5350 lei on deals of 3.49 million lei and oil refiner Rompetrol Rafinare Constanta (RRC) slipped 0.60 percent to 0.0663 lei.

Chemical fertilizer suppliers Azomures (AZO) and Amonil (AMO) traded mixed. The first one climbed 10.75 percent to 0.34 lei on deals of 2.47 million lei while the latter lost 0.86 percent to 0.0578 lei.
