Romanians are today celebrating December 1, the country's National Day, several military parades and festivities taking place in key cities.
Festivities already started in Alba Iulia, the city where Romania became a modern state in 1918 and where each year the National Day is traditionally celebrated. Some 8,000 people are expected to attend the festivities.
The festivities program consists of the traditional military parade, a parade showing different types of traditional clothes, art galleries and tasting traditional Romanian foods.
Interior Minister Cristian David, Culture Minister Adrian Iorgulescu or the head of the Deputy's Chamber are expected to take part at the event. The same type of festivities will be held in Bucharest.
