Romanians could opt for less expensive travel packages after the holidays

“People who come to a travel agency are those who want to travel abroad. I can say that now, in the holiday season, prices are higher than usual, because hotels are also expensive,” Claudia Stan, Marketing Manager of the Aerotravel Lufthansa City Center, told Business Standard.

As an example, Stan mentioned that the agency is offering an Austrian New Year travel package, whose price starts at some €500/per person in a three-star hotel. “As regards ski packages in January-February, I believe that Romanians who wish to travel, will opt for less expensive offers. Now, in the holiday season, it is harder to find the destination you want and a lower price,” Stan added.

Radu Morariu, General Manager of the Eximtur travel agency, said that Romanians are less willing to acquire travel packages due to the current financial crisis. 

According to previous statements by representatives of the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania (ANAT), the business travel segment will be most affected by the financial crisis, as a drop of up to 10 percent is estimated for 2009, considering most companies have cut travel and event planning budgets.
