Although prices are smaller in countries like Poland or Slovakia, Romanians prefer Austria or go even farther away to Switzerland and Italy. Most hotels hike prices at least 20 percent during the winter holidays. A three-star hotel in Austria in the St. Cristoph resort would cash 122 euros per night per person. Accommodation gets even more expensive close to the New Year, according to Marshal Tourism.
This year 110 people sought holidays advice at Marshal Tourism on spending the New Year in Austria, 36 people made reservations for Switzerland, 32 for Italy, 24 for France, 20 for Slovakia and 18 for Poland.
Another tourism agency, Paralela 45 made direct contracts with hotels and boarding houses in Austria to meet the huge demand. Most Romanians prefer to go to Austria with their own car as it is closer than France or Switzerland and they are not keen on traveling by plane. There are few offers left for this winter holidays, according to the travel agency representative.
The J'Info Tours travel agency offers charter flights for Austria, France, Italy and Bulgaria. Romanian tourists prefer comfort when it comes to price and transportation, therefore charter flights are very popular, company representatives said.
