Romanians prefer supermarkets

Some 37 percent of Romanians interviewed for the study indicated that they shop in supermarkets, less than the Dutch (40.1 percent) and more than Germans (19.9 percent). The latter would rather go to specialized stores, 30.3 percent of respondents, where only 10.1 percent of Romanians and 5.6 percent of the Dutch go.

The study was carried out in Romania, Germany and the Netherlands. “We were looking for an Eastern European country for the study. We chose Romania because it is one of the countries with the highest growth in the region. There are three countries from different regions, in which consumer demand is different,” said Lekkerland CEO Christian Berner.

The study also shows that 21 percent of Romanians go to fast-food restaurants, compared to 22.5 percent of Germans and 7.6 percent in the Netherlands
