Rompetrol Holding, operating on the Romanian media market through its Adevarul Holding branch, took over Ukrainian Blik tabloid in early August, according to Russian Kommersant newspaper, quoted by mediabusiness.com portal.
Blik was launched two years ago by Swiss Ringier group, when it entered Ukraine. According to Kommersant, Blik was a failure, as the real number of copies sold is 12,500 per issue, rather than 90,000 copies officially announced.
Rompetrol Holding is part of the Rompetrol oil group, controlled by Kazakh KazMunaiGas. The holding is run by Romania’s wealthiest businessman and former majority owner, Dinu Patriciu, who is also involved in politics.
