The company announced Thursday that it registered losses worth €23.4 mln in the third quarter, approximately 12 times higher than those registered in Q3 2006.
The value of Rompetrol shares transactions amounted to €0.74 mln, and the refinery ranks fourth among top traded companies on the stock exchange. Shares of Rompetrol Well Services, part of the Rompetrol group, dropped 1.25 percent on Friday, while Rompetrol SA (Vega) shares lost 3.74 percent on the stock exchange.
The company's losses were mainly due to the difference in the price of Ural oil, refined by Rompetrol Rafinare, and that of Brent oil, as well as the reduction of Rompetrol's gross refining margin. The price of oil soared by more than $2 (€1.38) on Friday, exceeding the $95/barrel (€65.82/barrel) threshold, due to a massive reduction in U.S. oil stocks as the winter season approaches.
