According to the company official, the IT&C retail market fell 40 percent in January compared to its December 2008 level. “In previous years, the drop for this period was only 15 percent. Combined with the rise of foreign currencies, the decline is much sharper,” Furnica added.
Romsoft posted net sales in 2008 close to their 2007 level, when sales amounted to some €40 million, according to company officials. The firm is determined to cut costs in 2009, after closing 30 stores last year, and is considering layoffs, renegotiating rents, relocating its stores to less expensive spaces, and cutting the communication budget.
