According to company representatives, sales increased by 10 percent in Q1, compared to the same period last year. “Although sales increased slightly, economic conditions are different than last year. In retail, you have to compare not only amounts, but also number of units. Prices dropped significantly, and the same amounts make up 20 percent higher sales in terms of unit numbers,” Furnica said.
The company plans to invest some €48 million in 2008. The main objective is to finalize the store network expansion. “Currently, we have 102 stores and plan to reach 115,” Furnica added.
Company representatives said they have received several offers from other companies to buy Romsoft, but Furnica does not believe that Romania has the financial power for acquisitions. “We are interested in selling if the price is right, understanding the company’s value,” Furnica added.
According to Romsoft estimates, the company had some 20 percent of the IT retail market share.
